Create and grade assignments

Build an assignment from tasks, set deadlines and retries, choose a grading scale, and review submissions.

Instructors

Create an assignment

  1. Add an Assignment activity to a chapter, or open Assignments in the dashboard.
  2. Give it a title, description and optional due date.
  3. Add tasks in the Task Editor; each can have its own instructions and points.
  4. Set the grading scale, whether retries are allowed, and graded or formative mode.
  5. Publish it with the course.

Grading scales

Numeric
— a raw score, such as 87 / 100.
Percentage
— a score out of 100%.
Alphabet
— letter grades, A–F.

Review submissions

  1. Open the assignment and go to Submissions.
  2. Filter by student or task; each row shows its status.
  3. Open a submission. Automatic tasks are already scored; grade manual ones.
  4. Finalise the grade — it is recorded in the learner's Trail.

Formative (ungraded) assignments

Turn on Formative — no grading. Instead of a grade you write a model answer (optionally with a document) and choose when it unlocks: Never, On hand-in or After grading.

Reuse quiz questions live

Quiz tasks can also be run as a live quiz during a LiveBridge lesson — see Live quizzes.
